Nepal Launches Free Health Portal Under Governance Reform Plan
Kathmandu — Under the Government of Nepal's governance reform action plan, the Ministry of Health and Population has launched a free health portal in just 20 days. Although the ministry had set a target to complete the project within 30 days, it brought the portal into operation ten days ahead of schedule.
The portal aims to ensure easy access to medical treatment for the impoverished, helpless, and abandoned citizens. So far, 15 hospitals have integrated their data into the system, pledging to provide 10 percent of their total beds free of charge.
The ministry has also taken initiatives to improve service quality by implementing the 'Hospital Service Improvement Procedures, 2082.' Focal persons have been designated in 30 hospitals across the country to oversee sanitation, staff attendance, and grievance management. Additionally, the ministry stated that all preparations have been completed to operate burn treatment services in 23 hospitals, including 9 federal and 14 provincial facilities, to ensure effective care for burn patients.
