First Phase of ‘Roll No. 1’ Filming Completed After 42 Days in Myagdi

Kathmandu: The first phase of filming for the movie ‘Roll No. 1’, produced by Seven Seas Cinema, has been completed. The major portion of the film was shot over approximately one and a half months (42 days) in various scenic and rural areas of Myagdi.

Following a two-week workshop, filming began in Myagdi on Mangsir 15. While the original schedule was set for 45 days, the first phase was wrapped up near the deadline despite adverse weather and technical challenges, according to producer Binod Paudel.

Producer Paudel mentioned that the extreme cold in the Himalayan district of Myagdi caused significant hardship for the filming crew.

"We set out with a 45-day schedule and finished the Myagdi portion in 42 days," Paudel said. "The cold was harder on the technical team than the actors. It was particularly difficult to work during night shoots as the temperature would drop drastically after 10 PM."

"We did not compromise on anything to make the cinema excellent. After a few days of rest, we will begin the remaining work," he added.

According to Paudel, the remaining scenes in Kathmandu will be filmed soon after a short break.

Directed and written by Jhon Yonzon, the film is entirely based on child psychology. The story reportedly focuses on the social pressure among students, false prestige, and the impact of the "must-win" mentality.

The 'first look' poster released last year, featuring a poignant image of a child raising a hand in a classroom, had garnered significant attention.

The film stars Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Yogi, Sirjana Adhikari, and Nirbhik Regmi in lead roles.

‘Roll No. 1’ is being viewed as a meaningful project that aims to present the serious subjects of early childhood education and psychology within a commercial cinema format.

The release date has not yet been fixed. The production team intends to announce the date only after filming and all post-production work are completed.
