Fake Representation in Government, Says UML Leader Surya Thapa

Kathmandu — UML leader Surya Thapa has criticized the current government, claiming that the younger generation’s aspirations have been hijacked by “fake representatives.” In a Facebook post, Thapa stated that the Gen Z group, who had opposed leaders like KP Sharma Oli, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, have now been misled by infiltrators who have taken control of the government.

He pointed out that the current cabinet includes elderly ministers, not true representatives of youth. According to Thapa, key ministers’ ages are: Prime Minister Sushila Karki (73), Rameshwar Khanal (69), Anil Kumar Sinha (68), Mahabir Pun (71), Kulman Ghising (54), Madan Pariyar (72), Om Prakash Aryal (49), and Jagdish Kharel (42).

Thapa further alleged that infiltrators were responsible for violence during the protests, which led to the deaths of 74 people and damage exceeding NPR 5 billion in public and private property. He condemned the government for what he described as “fake representation, arbitrary decisions, and looting,” and called for accountability for the loss of young lives.

Thapa concluded by warning that the government’s actions are a continuation of “performative theatrics” rather than genuine youth representation.
