Everest School Celebrates Gai Jatra Festival with Enthusiasm
Bhaktapur - Sunday Everest School in Mibachey, Bhaktapur-2, marked the Gai Jatra festival with color and excitement last Sunday. The school premises were decorated with flags, flowers, and traditional tahamcha, while students in Newari attire, masks, and cultural symbols led a vibrant procession to the beat of traditional music.
Students from diverse communities — Newar, Brahmin, Chhetri, Tamang, Gurung, Muslim, and Madhesi — participated equally, reflecting the school’s spirit of “One School, Many Cultures.” The program also featured student presentations highlighting the religious and social significance of Gai Jatra.
Founding Principal Bhakta Raj Bhandari said the celebration was part of the local curriculum “Identity of Khwopa”, aimed at giving students practical cultural experience. He stressed that such festivals promote respect for diversity and strengthen national unity.
The event concluded with a group photo of students, teachers, parents, and locals, capturing the festive spirit of the day.
