Fashion Director Sonya Gurung Takes Traditional Nepali Attire to the Global Stage

Fashion Art Director and Stylist Sonya Gurung, CEO of Sonya Style Creative Fashion Team Nepal, has successfully completed “Mountains to the Met – Chapter One” in collaboration with Hive Studio, Hong Kong.

Through this project, Nepali fabrics and traditional ornaments were presented through creative fashion art and visual storytelling, featuring the participation of international models. According to the project concept, international models were selected with the aim of bringing Nepali clothing and jewelry to the global stage.

Prominent Nepali personalities, community leaders, and invited guests attended the Meet & Greet event held under the project, where a special glimpse of the fashion art presentation was also showcased.

Known for her creative fashion storytelling, Sonya Gurung has been organizing fashion shows, cultural presentations, and school-level awareness programs for decades. Her fashion events are recognized for their distinct style away from traditional runways, featuring creative choreography and a blend of art and culture.

Additionally, she has been making efforts through her programs to provide opportunities to overshadowed and underprivileged talents.

The Nepal Tourism Board joined this project as the tourism promotion partner and Nepal Airlines as the airline partner, reinforcing the shared objective of promoting Nepali culture, creativity, and identity on an international level.

Through “Mountains to the Met,” Sonya Style continues to advance its campaign to bring Nepali fashion, textiles, jewelry, and cultural identity to the global stage.
