Government Vigilant on Security Ahead of February 21 Elections
Kathmandu: Acting Chief Commissioner of the Election Commission, Ram Prasad Bhandari, has stated that the government is extremely vigilant regarding security for the upcoming elections on Falgun 21.
Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Monday, he said that the Commission has held multiple discussions with the government and security agencies, and the government is very alert about peace and security.
He said, “In the past, even up to the day before elections, there were doubts about whether elections would take place or not. But since there is no alternative to this election, the government is extremely vigilant about peace and security. We have had dozens of discussions. There is no need for you to worry about any shortcomings, as assured by the government and security agencies.”
He further emphasized that elections are the only way to bring the country in line with constitutional provisions and to ensure good governance. The Commission is committed to conducting the elections on schedule in a safe and fraud-free manner.
He added, “To uphold the Constitution, bring order to the country, instill discipline, create a dynamic society, and ensure good governance, there was no alternative to holding elections. The Commission is dedicated to conducting the elections on the scheduled date in a secure and transparent manner.”
