Election Fever Grips Rautahat as Falgun 21 Polls Approach
Rautahat — As the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 approaches, election fever has gripped all four constituencies of Rautahat. Top leaders, former ministers, and new faces are currently busy with door-to-door campaigns, visiting villages and neighborhoods to win the trust of voters.
A very interesting competition is being witnessed in Rautahat Constituency No. 1 this time. Former Prime Minister and Co-coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Madhav Kumar Nepal, is in the electoral fray here.
Competing alongside him is Ajay Kumar Gupta, a central member of the CPN-UML and former mayor. Representing the Nepali Congress is former Industry Minister of the Government of Nepal, Anil Kumar Jha, while Yogendra Ray Yadav, former Minister of State for Agriculture of Madhesh Province, is also conducting door-to-door visits as the joint candidate of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP).
Rajesh Chaudhary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Devendra Mishra of the Janamat Party, Tribhuvan Sah of the Aam Janata Party, and Sanjay Yadav of the Jan Adhikar Party are also seen actively busy wooing voters. In this constituency, all candidates have placed development and infrastructure construction as their main priorities.
The electoral competition is also intense in Constituency No. 2. A primary contest is expected here between Dr. Mohammad Firdos Alam of the Nepali Congress and Mohammad Atiullah of the CPN-UML. Similarly, former MP Kiran Kumar Sah from the Nepali Communist Party, Ram Ashish Yadav from JSP, Sheikh Sagir from RSP, and Bhagwan Patel from the Aam Janata Party have also entered the field. In Constituency No. 3, the National President of the Aam Janata Party and former minister, Prabhu Sah, is aiming to protect his dominance once again.
To challenge him in this area, the Nepali Communist Party has fielded social worker and female candidate Punam Yadav, while the CPN-UML has fielded former provincial assembly member Kundan Kushwaha. Rabindra Patel Dhiraj of RSP, Ram Kripal Yadav of the Nepali Congress, Govinda Chaudhary of JSP, Sheikh Prabez Alam of Janamat, and Rekha Patel of NWPP are also visiting voters' doorsteps to create public opinion in their favor.
Rautahat Constituency No. 4 has become an area drawing nationwide attention this time. Famous former media personality Rishi Dhamala has entered the electoral race here from the Aam Janata Party.
Dhamala's candidacy has made the competition in this constituency even more interesting. A tough competition is expected here among Dev Prasad Timilsina of the Nepali Congress, Ramji Sah of the CPN-UML, Ram Kumar Bhattarai of the Nepali Communist Party, and Ganesh Paudel of the RSP.
Candidates are presenting commitments to voters regarding solving unemployment problems and improving education and health. Candidates from all constituencies have made the development of Rautahat's backward areas, expansion of the road network, irrigation, and education reform their main election slogans.
The Falgun 21 election will decide which direction Rautahat's political future will take. For now, the atmosphere in the villages and settlements of Rautahat has become very heated with election slogans and enthusiasm.
