Education Minister's Plea to Gen Z: 'Stop the Infighting and Build the Nation'

Kathmandu: Education, Science, and Technology Minister Mahabir Pun has humbly requested all Nepalis, especially the youth of the Gen Z generation, to give up the tendency of factionalism and infighting ("Khutta Tanatan") for the sake of national interest.

Through a long post on the social media platform Facebook, Minister Pun presented six examples from different periods of Nepal's history to clearly explain how factionalism has harmed the country.

He recalled historical events, such as how the factionalism that began during the time of the minor King Rana Bahadur Shah led to 104 years of absolute Rana rule.

He also mentioned that infighting and factionalism among the Rana family weakened them, and how the internal conflicts between political parties after the establishment of democracy gave King Mahendra the opportunity to introduce the Panchayat system.

He further noted that infighting among factions like Surya Bahadur Thapa, Lokendra Bahadur Chand, and Marich Man Singh also contributed to the weakening of the Panchayat system.

Minister Pun stated that the recent Gen Z movement is also a result of the extreme internal factionalism, infighting, and corruption seen in political parties since 2046 BS.

Addressing the Gen Z youth who dream of bringing good governance, eliminating corruption, and building a prosperous Nepal, he said: "I see an extreme need for unity among you. Because the tendency of factionalism and infighting is also taking hold among you.

For the existence of the motherland, I humbly request that you do not repeat the history of factionalism and infighting in Nepal."

He appealed to everyone to unite for the development of the country and the protection of its sovereignty, stating that factionalism benefits no one and only causes greater harm.
