Durga Prasai: Government Ignored Gen Z Rebels, Sushila Took the Wrong Path
Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai reiterated his demand for a referendum on issues including the Vedic Sanatana Hindu Dharma, the monarchy, the provincial structure, and the direct executive system.
Prasai, who is also the patron of the Nagarik Bachau Abhiyan, stated that he has formally presented various demands to the interim government. He claimed that a referendum is the final option to save the country from a potential conflict.
Accusing the government of following the ‘wrong path’ against the public's sentiment, Prasai said, “We have proposed a referendum on the issues of Kirat and Buddhist faiths alongside the Vedic Satya Sanatana Hindu Dharma, the monarchy, provinces, and the direct executive system. If they don't want a fight, let's go for a referendum. Let’s pave the way to save Nepal.”
He further claimed that his demands would not lead to the disintegration of the nation under any circumstances, adding, “My demands are not to sell Nepal; they are the demands of the Nepali people.
There is no proposal to fragment Nepal. The Home Minister is positive. I am confident that the government will fulfill 60 percent of the demands.” Prasai also warned that an agitation would be inevitable if the government ignored the demands.
He stated, “If the demands are not met, an agitation is already there. If we are not satisfied, we will protest. If these demands are not fulfilled, we will agitate.”
Prasai also accused the interim government of failing to take action against corruption and commented that the government, which was formed on the basis of the Gen Z movement, is now starting to jail its own base group. “They could not take action against the corrupt.
The same Gen Z group they leaned on to go to the government, they are now jailing them. The government is going on the wrong path. Gen Z rebels should not be jailed,” he said.
