Dr. Adhikari Suggests Postponing Elections to Jestha

Kathmandu. A suggestion has emerged from the academic sector to postpone the elections, which were scheduled for Fagun 21, and hold them in the first week of Jestha 2083 B.S.

Prof. Dr. Nirmalmani Adhikari, Head of the Department of Languages and Mass Communication at Kathmandu University, stated that holding the elections in Fagun  2082 B.S. is inappropriate, and a national consensus should be sought to postpone them.

"Elections must happen, but elections alone are not the only option," Dr. Adhikari said. "There are many issues that need to be resolved before the elections. The goal is to hold elections along with solving problems, not just holding elections for the sake of it."

"It is acceptable to postpone the elections for some time."

The reasons Dr. Adhikari cited for postponing the elections include:

Addressing Gen Z Demands: Some essential demands of Generation Z need to be addressed before the elections, and this requires adequate time.

Insufficient Preparation: The preparation for the elections is not yet complete.

Adverse Weather: Weather conditions in the Himalayan region will be unfavorable in Fagun.

Party Conventions: Time is needed for the conventions of political parties, which should take place before the elections.

He also argued that some time should be given to establish the morale of the security forces.
