Demand to Remove Violent Symbols from Political Parties
Kathmandu, September 18
A petition submitted to the Election Commission has called for the removal of violent symbols used by political parties.
According to Registration No. 462 (dated 2082/06/02), Sabin Baral filed a petition with the Election Commission of Nepal demanding an immediate ban on the use of weapons or violent symbols—such as hammers, sickles, tridents, swords, arrows, spears, bows, pickaxes, torches, etc.—by political parties, and a complete prohibition on their future use.
Baral stated that he had also verbally informed the Home Minister about this matter during a brief meeting. Making the petition public along with the registration proof, he urged all media outlets, journalists, and concerned stakeholders to spread the information and inform citizens.
“This demand is not only about symbols but is directly related to the protection of Nepal’s political culture, peace process, and democratic values. Therefore, I believe the Election Commission must take immediate action,” Baral said.
