Historical Damadighi Pond Clean-up Program Concluded
Biratnagar — The clean-up program for the historical Damadighi Pond, located in Biratnagar Metropolitan City Ward-18, was successfully concluded today.
The campaign was conducted in collaboration with the Ward-18 office and saw the active participation of ward employees, elected representatives, the Nepal Police, and local residents, as informed by Ward Chairperson Jitendra Shah.
Considered significant from a cultural and historical perspective, the Damadighi Pond had long been covered in dirt, debris, and weeds.
The Ward Chairperson explained that the clean-up drive was initiated with the objective of reviving the pond's beauty and religious importance. He added that alongside the clean-up, the Metropolitan City is developing long-term plans for the pond's conservation, management, and sustainable development.
Participants in the program removed collected plastic, vegetation, and garbage from around the pond, leaving it clean. Additionally, local youth pledged to continuously collaborate with concerned bodies to develop the pond as an attractive tourist destination.
The Damadighi Pond is regarded as an historical and cultural heritage site of Biratnagar. It is believed to contribute to the local community's identity and social unity.
