Identity Leader Dakendra Singh Thegim Quits Ujyaalo Nepal Party
Identity leader and central member of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, Dakendra Singh Thegim, has resigned from the party. Along with Dakendra, central member Gyan Bahadur Gurung and proposed central member Amar Ijam have also announced their resignation, even relinquishing their ordinary memberships.
Issuing a joint statement, they expressed that their ethics no longer allowed them to remain in the party because it failed to present a clear and written ideological position on identity-related agendas. Thegim, who previously ran as an independent candidate in the Ilam by-election, is currently on the closed list for the proportional representation system under the Ujyaalo Nepal Party.
The three individuals who left the party have announced that they will now expand the identity-based front and build a powerful structure for the movement. They have decided to push for mandatory commitments to federalism with identity, secularism, a democratic republic, and full proportional representation in political party manifestos for the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, they have committed to resisting the encroachment on religious and cultural sites like Mukkumlung, Khuwalung, and Bojheni under the independent "No Koshi" and "No Cable Car" campaigns. As elections approach, they have warned of launching a "No Vote" campaign.
