Nepali Congress Leaders Call for Unity Ahead of Upcoming Election
Kathmandu. Twenty-nine central leaders of the Nepali Congress have appealed to the party leadership to resolve internal disputes and move forward united for the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Keeping in view the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026 (Falgun 21, 2082 BS), the leaders stated that it is necessary to establish the Nepali Congress as a more credible and reliable party for the people. They emphasized the need to go into the election with new thinking and perspectives while embracing issues of change and transformation.
In their appeal, the leaders drew attention to the fact that General Convention delegates have already filed a written application demanding a special General Convention, noting that the opinions of these delegates must be respected.
The appeal urges the leadership to enter the election with new energy and vision through dialogue, consensus, and broad unity. It calls for all levels and ranks of the party to unite to create a result-oriented environment in favor of the Nepali Congress.
In their statement, they said, "In view of the House of Representatives election to be held on March 5, 2026, it is necessary to make the Nepali Congress a credible and more reliable party for the people in that election. We must go to the polls with new thinking and perspectives, embracing the issues of change and transformation."
According to central member Nanu Bastola, 25 central members had previously submitted a memorandum to the party leadership to ensure the General Convention. With four more members joining, the number has reached 29, increasing the pressure to resolve internal party disputes.
