Nepali Congress Rukum West Unveils Election Manifesto
Surkhet. The Nepali Congress Rukum West has released its manifesto for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5th. The manifesto was made public during a press conference organized at the party office in Khalanga on Tuesday.
During the program, Nepali Congress candidate KC stated that he would not let the pride of the people of Rukum falter. The 14-point manifesto mentions working towards political purification and the creation of a civilized society, original development policies, good governance, modern and technology-friendly education, access to health, dignified agriculture, and the welfare of respected farmers.
The pledge includes working on tourism, herbs and infrastructure, migration control, safe roads and physical infrastructure, electricity, water and a clean environment, rural stores at the local level, professional irrigation systems, youth empowerment and career counseling, and climate adaptation and environmental protection.
The manifesto states it will dispel the myth that politics is a dirty game and will democratize political and public institutions. It mentions adopting development policies based on the district's originality, directly linking development with poverty alleviation and the livelihood of impoverished citizens, implementing democratic good governance based on socialism, conducting impartial investigations into past irregularities, taking initiatives to implement a single education policy and system in the country, and introducing AI and digital learning technology in schools.
Congress candidate KC pledged that within a hundred days of being elected, he would arrange for a health facilitator in Kathmandu at his personal expense to assist patients from the district with hospital admission and treatment.
The manifesto mentions providing farmers with the identity of modern entrepreneurs, pension and social security arrangements for farmers, and declaring the district a specialized pocket area for orange, mango, banana, kiwi, and coffee cultivation.
Additionally, the manifesto states plans to create a Rukum tourism circuit by connecting Syarpu Lake, Buralamastha Temple, and other religious and natural sites, exporting Rukum brands by processing herbs, stopping city-centric migration by bringing facilities like roads, education, health, and internet to villages, taking initiative to immediately complete the bridge under construction over the Bheri River, and providing electricity to all homes through central transmission lines or solar energy.
The manifesto also covers the construction of modern rural stores in partnership with local and financial institutions in Radi of Aathbiskot, Chaufa of Chaurjahari, Khalanga of Musikot, Jhulneta of Tribeni, Simli of Sanibheri, and Chhinkhet of Bafikot to support the marketing of local products and employment. It includes one house one tap, year-round irrigation facilities, regular career counseling programs in district secondary schools and colleges, the implementation of employment information centers, and watershed conservation.
At the program, Khadga Bahadur Dangi, coordinator of the Election Publicity Sub-committee, stated that the pledge was made to contribute to correct policy-making. The event saw the participation of leaders including former central member and proportional candidate Man Bahadur Nepali, former Minister of State Gopal Ji Jung Shah, Karnali Province Committee member Sita Oli, District President Prem Prakash Oli, and Vice President Surat Jung Malla.
