Congress Leader Dr. Chandra Bhandari Calls for Constitutional Amendment to Address Instability and Meet 'Gen Z' Demands

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Dr. Chandra Bhandari, has stated that a constitutional amendment is necessary to resolve the instability seen in the country.
He stressed that changing the country's leadership alone will not change the system, and that some flaws in the current electoral system and constitution need to be rectified.
Leader Bhandari recalled that the constitution of Nepal was adopted after two Constituent Assembly elections and the sacrifice of thousands of people.
However, he noted that the current constitution has some shortcomings. Specifically, he pointed out that the current electoral system has failed to form a 'majority government,' which has led the country towards instability.
"We were unable to form a majority government through this constitution," leader Bhandari said. "Therefore, the constitution must be amended in a way that allows for the formation of a majority government. Furthermore, the proportional representation system should also be managed."
He expressed the view that changing only the individuals or leaders will not change the system. He stated, "The system does not change, only the individuals change."
To address the demands raised by the youth generation, 'Gen Z,' he proposed reinstating the Parliament for a period of one or two weeks to amend the constitution.
He emphasized that all political parties must seriously consider this approach to fulfil the demands of Gen Z.
