Rautahat: Complaint against Madhav Kumar Nepal Dismissed
Rautahat. The Office of the Chief Election Officer has dismissed (placed in the archives without registration) a complaint filed against Madhav Kumar Nepal, a candidate for the House of Representatives from Rautahat Constituency No. 1. The office refused to register the complaint, which sought the cancellation of Nepal’s candidacy, citing a lack of sufficient evidence.
Another candidate for the House of Representatives, Ram Naresh Ray Yadav, had filed the claim and objection against leader Nepal. The complaint mentioned Nepal’s involvement in the Patanjali Yogpeeth land purchase and sale case, noting that a corruption case is currently pending in the Special Court, and demanded that he be declared ineligible to be a candidate.
Yadav argued that Nepal’s candidacy should be canceled based on various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the House of Representatives Member Election Act.
However, the Office of the Chief Election Officer determined that the complaint did not include concrete and sufficient evidence to prove the allegations.
According to the Election Officer's office, the complaint was dismissed because there were no strong grounds to invalidate the candidacy in accordance with the law. With this decision, Nepal’s candidacy remains intact.
