Collaboration Essential to Solve Dharan’s Water Crisis: Minister Pradeep Yadav

Dharan (Sunsari) — Minister for Drinking Water Pradeep Yadav has emphasized the urgent need for collaboration among all stakeholders, including all tiers of government and the local community, to address Dharan’s long-standing water crisis.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Sunsari Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dharan on Friday, Minister Yadav stated that resolving the water issue in Dharan requires strong coordination and joint efforts from the federal, provincial, and local governments, as well as active involvement of the local residents.

“I have come here not just to do politics, but to find practical solutions. Cooperation is essential to explore viable alternatives,” Minister Yadav said. He underlined the importance of immediate dialogue and joint efforts to tackle the issue effectively.

He also expressed disappointment over the absence of Dharan’s mayor during his visit for discussion. “The Prime Minister has repeatedly instructed me to solve Dharan’s water problem, but the mayor didn’t make time to meet during my visit, which is unfortunate,” he remarked.

According to Minister Yadav, the federal government has already allocated NPR 40 million in the current fiscal year to address Dharan’s water issue. However, the Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City has reportedly refused to accept the allocated budget, which he said is causing unnecessary delays in the solution process. “Let us accept the budget and move forward with long-term, cooperative solutions,” he urged.

Minister Yadav stressed that national-level drinking water problems can only be resolved through proper coordination among the federal, provincial, and local governments. “As the Minister of Drinking Water, my top priority is to relieve people from water-related hardships,” he said.

He called on all stakeholders to set aside political biases when it comes to fundamental issues like drinking water. “Only through dialogue can we pave the way for sustainable solutions. We must work together not for cheap popularity, but for the genuine welfare of the people,” he concluded.

The event was attended by officials from the Chamber of Commerce, local stakeholders, business representatives, and members of the public.
