Kathmandu. To ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 is conducted in a clean, fair, and dignified manner, the Election Commission has strictly enforced the Election Code of Conduct. The Commission has issued firm directives to government and semi-government bodies, public institutions, and political parties to fully comply with the code.
According to the Commission, government and semi-government institutions are prohibited from engaging in any activities in favor of or against any political party or candidate. The Commission has warned that strict action will be taken if any project, resource, means, or public property is used for election purposes.
The Commission stated that obstructing election management, voter education, or election-related programs, as well as tampering with or damaging materials and information, will be considered serious offenses. Additionally, organizing election gatherings or campaigns within the premises of government offices, universities, schools, and colleges has been completely prohibited.
The code of conduct also bans the use, sale, and display of clothing, materials, and symbolic items bearing election symbols. Political activities on private property without the owner’s consent are not allowed, and the use of children in election campaign activities has been clearly prohibited.
The Commission further stated that rallies, assemblies, or corner meetings that disrupt public transportation are not permitted, and legal action will be taken against those who spread false, misleading, or hateful information through social media.
The Election Commission has made it clear that monitoring teams will be deployed to enforce the code of conduct, and legal action will be initiated in accordance with the law against political parties, candidates, or institutions found violating the code.
