CK Raut Calls for 'Autonomous Madhesh,' Declaring 'Rights Cannot Be Won Through Servitude'

Dr. C.K. Raut, Chairman of the Janamat Party, has issued a fresh call for an agitation demanding that the Madhesh Province be declared fully autonomous.

In a detailed post on social media, he unequivocally stated that self-respect and rights cannot be attained through servitude or flattery, asserting that struggle remains the only path forward.

Dr. Raut anchored his demand in historical context, citing the 8-point agreement signed by the Government of Nepal on Falgun 16, 2064, following the sacrifices made during the 2063/064 B.S Madhesh Movement.

He specifically highlighted Point No. 2 of the agreement, which clearly mentions the "aspiration of the Madhesi people for an Autonomous Madhesh Province" and the provision that "Provinces shall be fully autonomous and vested with rights." He insisted that these rights are not charity or alms but were established through a movement.

Strongly criticizing the attitude of the ruling class, Raut questioned the futility of seeking acceptance through subservience.

He argued that even if Madhesi individuals salute the flag for 250 years, wear symbols of servitude, forget their own languages to speak only the Khas language, and oppose other Madhesis to appear 'nationalist,' the ruling class will ultimately still question their identity: "Are you really Nepali? You don't look Nepali. Where is your Nepali citizenship? You must have come from across the border, you Dhotees!"

Concluding his impassioned appeal, Raut urged people to abandon the pursuit of power through servitude and instead mobilize for an Autonomous Madhesh. "Self-respect and rights are not achieved through servitude," he stated. "They are only achieved when autonomy is attained through struggle and agitation."

The post ended with the rallying cry: "Jai Madhesh, Jai Swaraj (Victory to Madhesh, Victory to Self-Rule)." Raut's statement effectively thrusts the issue of autonomy back to the forefront of Madhesh politics.
