Harka Sampang Calls for Nationwide Volunteers for Darchula Bridge Project

Kathmandu: Harka Sampang, Chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party and newly elected Member of Parliament, has called upon volunteers across the country to prepare for the construction of suspension bridges to replace "tuins" (improvised cable crossings) in Darchula.

In a video message released on social media, the newly elected Sampang stated that he has already dispatched a team to gather information regarding the geographical conditions and other technical details of the construction site.

"I am going to construct suspension bridges in Darchula to replace the tuins. Please be ready nationwide as volunteers for this construction work in difficult geographical conditions. I have already sent an advance team to obtain geographical and other technical information about the bridge construction site," he said.

He mentioned that due to the lack of motorable roads, it is impossible to transport dozers, crushers, and other heavy machinery to the construction site.

He further stated, "I will also head to the construction site once the team provides information after understanding the entire situation of that remote location where roads have not reached. Dozers cannot go to the construction site because there is no road. It is not possible to take crushers and other heavy machinery equipment."

Sampang also informed that it would take 15 to 20 days to complete the bridge construction work. He said, "There is no electricity facility there, so drill machines cannot be used. It is also not possible to carry generators.

Therefore, those going for voluntary labor will have to perform tasks ranging from breaking stones and gravel to digging paths by hand, relying on sledgehammers, hammers, shovels, pickaxes, and crowbars. Consequently, it may take 15 to 20 days to finish the bridge construction." Sampang also urged donors to contribute according to their capacity, starting from a minimum of 10 rupees.
