Biplav: Nepal Remains in Political Crisis and Transition

Kathmandu: Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav,’ General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), has stated that the country's political situation is still stuck in transition and crisis.

Addressing the party's Central Committee meeting that began on Thursday in Buddhanagar, Biplav mentioned that the current electoral process is standing at a crossroads. He noted that there is an ongoing debate on whether to follow the solution proposed by the government or to create a new political environment before that.

"The election is at a crossroads. There is a debate over whether to accept the exit path offered by the current state and government or to move forward by building a new atmosphere first," he said. "At a time when trust is lost and the situation is unhealthy, all sides need to move toward a solution in a balanced way."

General Secretary Biplav emphasized that political instability remains in Nepal, as the main demands of the people have not been addressed even after the 'Gen Z' rebellion.

He pointed out that while the movement demanded action against the corrupt, an end to corruption, rewriting the constitution, and a directly elected executive head, these goals have not been met.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the current interim government led by Sushila Karki, claiming it is focusing only on elections.

"Nepal is still in a state of political transition and crisis. Even after the Gen Z rebellion, major public demands haven't been met," Biplav said. "The movement proposed punishing the corrupt, ending corruption, rewriting the constitution, and ensuring the executive head is directly elected.

However, since Sushila Karki’s interim government took over, the focus has shifted only to elections. Neither the rebels, the youth, the public, nor the political forces are satisfied with this situation."
