Benisha Hamal's Powerful Look in ‘Bigul’ First Look Poster, Dedicated to the Gen Z Movement

The first-look poster of the film ‘Bigul’ along with its release date was made public on Sunday. Directed by Ramesh Koirala, presented by Kalpana Paudel, and based on a story and produced by Dinesh Koirala, the film is set for a nationwide release on Magh 9 (January 22, 2023).

Out of the three poster designs released, one features actress Benisha Hamal in a serious expression. A group of protestors holding torches can be seen in the same poster.

In the second poster, Benisha, actor Naren Khadka, and Ramesh Budhathoki are featured in an angry mood, while the third poster includes all the main actors of ‘Bigul’.

The subject matter raised in ‘Bigul,’ which commenced shooting in May after a formal launch in Baishak, became the very issue and demand that Gen Z took up during their nationwide movement in September.

The production team noted that it is a surprising coincidence that the film was produced focusing on these very issues four months before the Gen Z generation started their movement.

“The core issue we raised in ‘Bigul’ and the demands later raised by the Gen Z generation, which reflect the aspirations of the common Nepali people for development and change, match exactly. That is why we have dedicated this film to the Gen Z movement,” says storyteller and producer Dinesh Koirala.

“The film sounds the trumpet of change to eradicate corruption and anomalies by raising awareness among youth and women.

It addresses the desire of all Nepalis for a prosperous and developed New Nepal. I urge Nepalis all over the world to watch ‘Bigul,’ which delivers a message of awakening while also ensuring ample entertainment.”

Director Koirala states that the film is about a new path born out of familial, social justice, and political awareness, where the history of the dreams, struggles, and sacrifices of the common people has been written on screen through ‘Bigul.’

He claims that the film raises a voice for social change alongside healthy entertainment. He also mentions that the film includes a family story encompassing the struggles and sacrifices women face in society.

Produced under the banner of Magnolia Group, the film stars Benisha Hamal, along with Naren Khadka, Ramesh Budhathoki, Neer Shah, Saroj Khanal, Hemant Budhathoki, Shishir Wangdel, Binod Nyaupane, JN Ghimire, Geeta Adhikari, Mira Pandit, Manshree Sharma, and others.

The screenplay and dialogue are by Pradip Bharadwaj and Maunata Shrestha, cinematography by Shiva Dhakal, choreography by Kamal Rai and Kaviraj Gahatraj, action direction by NB Maharjan, music by Bishwaprakash Sharma, Arjun Pokharel, and Manoj Chaulagain, and editing by Tara Thapa 'Kimvhe'. Surya Kant Koirala and Mahesh Koirala are the co-producers.

The film will be distributed within the Kathmandu Valley by Kafiya Films, and the distribution in the regions outside the capital will be handled by Shree Banquets Entertainment.
