Bhajan Sanjh returns, 9th edition at Pragya Pratisthan

The spiritual musical series, which seeks to blend music, spirituality, and emotional wellbeing, is taking place on Saturday.

Kathmandu.Yagyashala Nepal is hosting the 9th edition of its signature spiritual musical series, “Bhajan Sanjh,” on Saturday (November 29) at Pragya Pratisthan, Dabali in Kathmandu.

The event, which has emerged as a youth-driven spiritual movement, blends traditional devotional music with a modern presentation style, offering a refreshing alternative to Western concepts of healing and wellness.

“Bhajan Sanjh” was initiated with the vision of reviving Nepal’s spiritual culture and making bhajans appealing and accessible to today’s generation, organisers say.

The mission extends beyond organising events—“it aims to create a positive space where music, spirituality, and emotional wellbeing meet, addressing the growing need for grounding and healing among youths.”

The event is the brainchild of Nirjan Adhikari, founder of Yagyashala Nepal, which is a spiritual collective based in Bhaktapur.

“I started this movement because our generation was slowly drifting away from our own roots,” Adhikari said. “Bhajans are not just songs—they are therapy, heritage, and a path to inner balance.”

Adhikari added, “I wanted to create a platform where youths could experience spiritual connection in a way that feels authentic and relevant to them.”

The event also aims to provide opportunities for classical and devotional musicians, many of whom struggle for platforms in the commercial music scene.

Organisers believe that when young artists see real opportunities and public appreciation, a new generation of classical and spiritual musicians will rise, strengthening Nepal’s cultural ecosystem.

Since its first edition on January 1, 2023, the event has witnessed a growing youth audience, organisers said, proving that spirituality presented in an engaging, contemporary manner resonates strongly today.

In a statement, Yagyashala Nepal said its future plans include nationwide spiritual concerts, youth-centred healing sessions, and global showcases promoting Nepal as a hub for spiritual music and wellness.

“Bhajan Sanjh is more than a musical gathering,” the group said. “It is a multidimensional initiative impacting culture, youth engagement, mental wellbeing, and artistic revival all at once.”
