Bhagwati Chaudhary Recommended Again from Sunsari-3

KATHMANDU. The CPN (UML) has decided to field Bhagwati Chaudhary once again as its candidate from Sunsari Electoral Constituency No. 3 for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

A meeting of the party secretariat held on Saturday made the decision to field Chaudhary, who is also a former Member of Parliament, while finalizing the candidates for the first-past-the-post system.

The UML Provincial Committee had previously recommended Chaudhary's name unanimously for the constituency. Party sources stated that the primary reasons for giving the ticket to Chaudhary again—who achieved a grand victory in the 2079 House of Representatives election by defeating Nepali Congress heavyweight candidate Bijay Kumar Gachhadar by a margin of over five thousand votes—are her performance, effective role in Parliament, and commitment to public service.

Having risen in politics through women's rights, economic empowerment, and social service, Chaudhary is recognized as a courageous, combative, and struggling leader not only within the CPN (UML) but also in national politics.

Active in politics since her student days, inspired by communist ideology and the personality of the late people's leader Madan Bhandari, she established herself as a powerful leader by continuously competing against Bijay Kumar Gachhadar of the Congress in the second Constituent Assembly election of 2070 and the general election of 2074.

Defining politics as social service rather than a profession and continuously raising her voice for the country and the people, Chaudhary has proven her struggle, sacrifice, and dedication by defeating the same rival on her third attempt, remaining undeterred despite state power and adverse circumstances.

Due to the effective role she played recently in government operations and Parliament, the public voice demanding her re-election has grown stronger this time.

Key features of her working style include running the ministry efficiently during her approximately five-month ministerial tenure without any acts that compromised her integrity, and presenting contemporary national and social issues alongside the concerns of her constituency in a balanced, objective, and factual manner in Parliament.

For these reasons, political analysts suggest that the people want to see her in a powerful parliamentary role once again.
