Candidates in Bajura Issue Joint Commitment for Peaceful Election

Bajura — Eight candidates contesting from Bajura for the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5 (Falgun 21) have issued a joint commitment letter. They have released this collective commitment to ensure a peaceful election and create an environment where citizens can vote freely, preventing a repeat of past incidents in Bajura.

The candidates made the commitment public during a press conference held in the district headquarters, Martadi, on Thursday. They emphasized the need to strictly follow the election code of conduct and keep the competition dignified and peaceful. A written commitment consisting of approximately seven points was jointly issued. In Bajura, representatives from seven political parties and one independent candidate are in the electoral fray.

The candidates who issued the joint commitment include Janak Raj Giri of the Nepali Congress, Lal Bahadur Thapa of the CPN (UML), Prakash Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Communist Party, Keshar Bahadur Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Hemraj Thapa of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Deepak DC of the Progressive Democratic Party, Bhupendra BK of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), and independent candidate Upendra Shahi.

The public joint commitment by political parties and candidates in Bajura is seen as a positive sign in the district's electoral history. While previous elections often saw intense competition marked by mutual conflict, accusations, and social tension, this commitment indicates that Bajura's politics is moving in a positive direction.

The candidates stressed that the election in Bajura must be completed in a peaceful and fear-free environment. They stated they would collectively reject any form of rigging or infiltration during the election campaign and voting process, manage election-related disputes through mutual dialogue, and fully adhere to the election code of conduct.

Expressing their commitment, they noted that the issued joint commitment represents a good political practice for the entire district and emphasized its full implementation. The press conference, chaired by Prem Raule, Secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Bajura, was attended by all candidates, chiefs and representatives of various parties, and journalists.
