Ballot Boxes to be Transported by Helicopter to 10 Polling Centers in Bajura

Bajura: For the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 (Phalgun 21), ballot boxes will be transported via helicopter to 10 polling centers in Bajura. 

These 10 centers remain inaccessible by road transport. Out of a total of 77 polling stations, helicopter transport will be utilized for these specific locations. The Himal Bhakti polling center, located in Ward No. 3 of Himali Rural Municipality, is considered the most remote.

Road networks have yet to reach this area. The Himal Bhakti polling center has been designated at a monastery in Himali for over 70 voters. During the previous election, ballot papers and boxes were also transported here by helicopter.

According to the District Administration Office of Bajura, a monitoring team led by Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula, including security agencies, confirmed that 10 polling centers are still outside the reach of road transport. 

These include five centers in Himali Rural Municipality, two in Swamikartik Khapar, and one each in Gaumul, Jagannath, and Tribeni Rural Municipalities. These centers without road access are also considered sensitive from a security perspective.

Out of the 77 polling stations in the district, they have been categorized as 62 highly sensitive, 12 sensitive, and 3 normal. In Bajura, individuals from seven political parties, including one independent candidate, are in the electoral race. A competitive contest is expected among the candidates of the four major parties.

In Bajura, which consists of nine local levels, there are over 87,000 registered voters. The voter population includes 45,428 males, 42,431 females, and 2 others. According to the Election Office Bajura, there are currently 77 polling stations and 118 polling centers determined for the district.
