Proper Use of Technology to Prevent Gender-Based Violence: Special Awareness Program Concluded in Lalitpur
Lalitpur. Proper use of technology: Let's end gender-based violence. Under the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (November 25 – December 10), a special awareness program on violence in the digital age was conducted jointly by Shanti Shiksha Abhiyan Nepal and Kein India Delhi.
The program was held for students from various schools, including Siddhi Mangal Secondary School in Mahalaxmi Municipality, Ward No. 6, Lalitpur District, as well as women's groups like the Ganesh Mahila Samuha in Godawari Municipality, Ward No. 5, Lele.
For this program, Police Sub-Inspector Prakriti Khadka from the Police Headquarters, Cyber Bureau, provided information on the violence occurring through digital means and how to prevent it.
The awareness program was coordinated by Kalpana Maharjan, a world record-holding Everest climber and an active campaigner against child marriage and human trafficking.
Campaigner Kalpana stated that child marriage and human trafficking are also being facilitated through various social media platforms in today's society, making the operation of such awareness programs extremely necessary.
