'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' — A Rare Suspense Thriller in Nepali Cinema

Kathmandu. Suspense thriller dramas are rarely made in Nepal. As they require adequate attention to the making, dashing performances, and a corresponding suspense story, suspense thriller dramas are less common in Nepal. In the Nepali cinema industry, which often lacks scripts, it is even harder to find stories for suspense thrillers.

The Nepali film currently screening, 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1,' is one such suspense thriller drama. It keeps the audience in suspense and tells a story of Nepali society.

Maintaining suspense for most of its runtime, 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' tells the story of the dowry system, which remains a problem in the Terai region. Secondly, it shows how Nepali society has, of late, been easily engaging in various deceits for easy money.

It is not easy for filmmakers to tell a realistic story of society while creating suspense. However, the audience who have watched 'Abhimanyu' are themselves saying that it has managed to hold them completely.

The more genres of cinema that are made, the better it is for the film industry. Therefore, everyone should encourage genre cinema. Otherwise, films will remain focused on just one or two genres.

The audience who watched 'Abhimanyu' have demanded a sequel. Since the makers initially named it Chapter 1, a sequel will probably be released for sure. The audience's demand has excited the makers to create a sequel.

The film 'Abhimanyu' is directed by Sushant Gautam, with Madan Thapa as the Creative Director. The screenplay for this film is written by Mukesh Khanal.

The producers of 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' are Binod Poudel and Gunjan Giri. Ramesh Chaulagain and Hari Shrestha are co-producers, and the executive producers are Bishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Nirajan Luintel, and Sandesh Shrestha. Jiwan Shakya is the line producer for the cinema.

Sharad Mahato is the DOP (Director of Photography) for this film, with Manoj Shrestha for VFX, Junim Gahatraj for colour grading, and Madan Ghimire as the editor.
