Doctors Who Studied at XXMU in China Hold Special Reunion in Kathmandu
Kathmandu: A grand 25th 'Silver Jubilee' reunion ceremony for Nepali and Indian students who began their MBBS studies at the Xinxiang Medical University (XXMU) in Henan Province, China, in 2001, was successfully held at the Hotel Holiday Inn Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu, the capital city.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy, Special Guest, Dr. Manoj Man Shrestha, and Patron, Dr. Sunil Sharma.
Participants described the program as extremely emotional and enthusiastic as memories of the friendships and professional journeys that began on foreign soil were once again brought together.
The ceremony included a tribute program in memory of respected teachers and colleagues. Special recognition was also given to doctors active not only in the health sector but also in various leadership roles. The honored personalities included:
- Dr. Tejendra Karki (President, Nepal Radiologists Association)
- Prof. Dr. Prakash Kafle (Full Professor, Neurosurgery)
- Dr. Rajesh Nepal (Cardiologist and Hospital Director/Medical College Principal)
Along with other senior doctors, researchers, and hospital directors.
The organizers stated that their national and international contributions prove that doctors who completed their studies at Xinxiang Medical University (XXMU) are at the forefront of the health sector.
Concluding the ceremony, the organizing committee – Convening Chairman Dr. Tejendra Karki and Convening Secretary Prof. Dr. Prakash Kafle – thanked all the guests, teachers, doctors, colleagues, and supporters, declaring the reunion an "historic reunion of a shared journey, shared identity, and one family."
According to the participants, this meeting after 25 years revived the challenges, memories, and friendships of their study years spent abroad, further strengthening the unity and collaboration within the medical community.
