Ward Chairperson Thapa of Dolpa Arrested in Banking Offense Case

Surkhet: Tanka Bahadur Thapa, the Ward Chairperson of Tripurasundari Municipality-2 in Dolpa, has been arrested in connection with a banking offense case.

Following an arrest warrant issued by the Dolpa District Court, a team dispatched from the District Police Office, Dolpa, arrested Thapa on Monday from Tripurakot Bagar Bazaar in Tripurasundari Municipality-1.

After his arrest, he was produced before the Dolpa District Court. Inspector Padam Rawal, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Dolpa, informed that the court granted a seven-day remand extension to keep Thapa in custody for further investigation into the banking offense case.

According to the police, further investigation into the incident is underway.

Thapa was elected as the Ward Chairperson of Tripurasundari Municipality-2 representing the CPN (UML) in the 2022 (2079 BS) local level elections.
