Friendly Cricket Match to be Held Between Nepal–UK Parliamentarians

Kathmandu. A friendly cricket match will be organized between members of parliament (MPs) from Nepal and the United Kingdom. On the initiative of the Nepal–UK Parliamentary Friendship Group, the cricket match between the parliamentarians of the two nations is scheduled to take place on February 27 next year.

According to the proposed schedule, the first match will be played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kathmandu, while the second match will take place in the tourist city of Pokhara. Through these two matches, the event aims to expand ties between Nepal and the UK through sports alongside parliamentary relations.

According to Manish Jha, an MP from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the friendly tournament is expected to help strengthen relations between the parliamentarians of both countries.

Nepal and the UK have long collaborated in areas such as foreign employment, mountain diplomacy, tourism, culture, and parliamentary practices. Cricket is now being introduced as a medium of cooperation to further extend these ties.

It has been stated that the event will prioritize enhancing parliamentary relations between Nepal and the UK, promoting tourism and culture, and fostering the exchange of mutual experiences and relations among the parliamentarians of both nations.
