Continuous Rain Affects Highways Nationwide, Dozens of Road Sections Blocked

Kathmandu. Continuous rainfall across the country has triggered floods and landslides, disrupting major highways and road sections in various provinces. According to details released by the Nepal Police, landslides at multiple locations have completely blocked several roads, while nighttime traffic has been restricted on certain sections due to safety concerns.

The Kanti Lokpath road section has been completely blocked since 3:40 AM on the 11th due to a landslide at Takurche in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3. Similarly, traffic along the Tikabhairav–Charghare road section remains entirely halted after a landslide struck Godavari Municipality-4 on the 12th at 2:10 PM.

In Solukhumbu district, nighttime travel on the Siddhicharan Highway and other inner roads has been restricted. Due to heavy rainfall forecasts from Ashwin 8 to 12, all non-essential vehicular and pedestrian movement has been strictly prohibited between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Additionally, movement for all vehicles operating in and around Dhading district along the Prithvi Highway was completely suspended from 7:00 AM on Ashwin 9 until further notice due to extreme flood and landslide risks. Meanwhile, sections of the Prithvi Highway affected by landslides at Krishnabhir, Gaumatikhola (Ward 3), and Chalise and Parevabhir (Gajuri Rural Municipality-2) have been partially reopened for one-way traffic.

On the BP Highway in Kavre, traffic is also currently operating one-way following landslides at Gimtibeshi in Roshi Rural Municipality-8 and the Charsai Beshi area.
