Trump Administration's New Immigration Policy Affects Nepalis in the US
With the American administration under President Donald Trump tightening immigration policies, Nepalis living in the United States will no longer be able to utilize various social benefits provided by the government.
The current government, which has recently become more stringent regarding immigrants, has restricted the subsidies that foreign citizens have been receiving in basic sectors such as healthcare, housing, and education.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Washington, D.C., a provision exists whereby an individual's visa or green card could be revoked if they are found to have taken government benefits in violation of the new rules; therefore, people have been urged to remain cautious.
This move by the Trump administration has created confusion and fear, particularly among immigrant Nepalis who are in the legal process and dependent on various benefits.
