UNDO General Assembly and Partnership Conference with MIT Foundation: To Be Held in South Korea on December 20-21
On Friday, October 31, 2025, the United Nepali Diaspora Organization (UNDO), under the chairmanship of Sonam Lama, held its 8th meeting and passed various resolutions, including the decision for the Annual General Assembly.
The meeting resolved to host the upcoming Annual General Assembly and a one-day conference, in partnership with the MIT Foundation, in South Korea on December 20-21, 2025. This General Assembly will primarily focus on the organization's constitution (Bidhān), budget, resource development, globalization plan, various projects, and the main agenda items for the one-day conference.
Although the tradition is to hold the organization's Annual General Assembly in Nepal, due to this being the initial year of the organization's development and its added responsibility of globalization, the decision was made to hold it in South Korea on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
In line with the practice of having the respective Regional Coordinator (RC) coordinate the assembly and conference, the seventh meeting had decided to assign the role of coordinator to Lakshmi Gurung, the RC for Asia. All registered members and those who obtain membership up until that day will be eligible to be representatives at the General Assembly.
A one-day conference, in partnership between UNDO and the MIT Foundation, has been organized for Sunday, December 21, 2025. Further updates regarding the conference and assembly will be regularly posted on the official UNDO and MIT Foundation Facebook pages.
A Constitutional Amendment Committee has been formed under the coordination of Sangeeta Karki, Secretary of UNDO. She will be responsible for nominating the remaining members of the committee. It has been decided that the draft of the proposed constitutional amendments will be sent to all members via email one week or more prior to the assembly.
A Planning Committee has been formed under the coordination of Executive Member and Communications Coordinator Krishna KC to finalize the organization's globalization plan. The committee will include the participation of the executive committee and all members.
Treasurer Ulka Ghimire has been tasked with the responsibility of preparing the financial budget for the next two years and presenting the financial statements. This budget will encompass projects and various activities.
Similarly, all Regional Coordinators will present their respective regional plans and reports at the General Assembly.
All regional Vice Presidents will coordinate and facilitate micro-projects that can and will be completed over the next two years. It has been decided that Vice President Trilok Gurung will coordinate the partnership project currently in the pipeline with the MIT Foundation, and Vice President Bhoma Limbu will coordinate the earthquake relief project that was initiated in the past.
