Traditional Leaf Bowl Training Held on Representative’s 50th Birthday

Pokhara – On the occasion of her 50th birthday, Pokhara Metropolitan Ward No. 9 representative Geeta Charmakar organized a training program on making traditional leaf bowls (duna-tapari) for local women.

The training, which began on Saturday, was organized by the Ward-level Dalit Network and financially supported by Ward Member Geeta Charmakar. Women from various mothers’ and women’s groups in the ward participated, with two representatives from each group.

Speaking at the inauguration, Ward Chairperson Dipendra Marsani praised the initiative, stating that it reflects the representative’s commitment to cultural preservation and addressing community needs.

Ward Members Nandaram Giri and Laxmi Pahari, Ward Secretary Kulraj Paudel, Tole Bikas Ward Coordination Committee Chairperson Uttam Joshi, Sangam Marg Women’s Group representative Jaya Baral, and Darbarthok Media's Krishna Ranabhat, among others, expressed that the training was timely and wished Geeta Charmakar a happy birthday.

Pari Basnet, Chairperson of Pokhara-9 Child Club, who participated in the training, said she would teach the newly learned skill to her club members. The two-day training is being facilitated by trainers Sarita Shrestha and Sharmila Thapa.

The program was chaired by Dalit Network Ward President Sapana BK. The welcome speech was delivered by Vice Chairperson Rokbir Sunar, and the event was conducted by Secretary Bimala Pariyar.
