Three Pillars of Nepali Politics: Corruption, Deceit, and Servitude – Basnet
Purna Basnet, Head of the Publicity Department of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has remarked that the core pillars of Nepali politics today are corruption, deceit, and servitude. Criticizing the current political scenario, he stated that those considered politically conscious in Nepal are now competing in one of these three domains.
According to Basnet, "The central axis of major political parties in Nepal is corruption. It’s the main attraction for the corrupt and sycophants." His remarks appeared to be directed at the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and the Maoist Center.
Further, he accused the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of attempting to normalize deceit as a political principle. He said, "Looking at their stunts and antics over time, it seems like they want to portray their actions as anti-corruption movements. But in reality, this path has attracted anarchists and opportunists."
Basnet also labeled the pro-monarchy political option as a form of servitude. He commented that "servitude" is being promoted as a political choice in Nepal, with loyal subjects and followers of feudalism becoming active once again.
He strongly asserted that unless the people themselves reject such political conduct, Nepal's politics will never improve.
