First Steering Committee Meeting of NRNA After Unification
Kathmandu. The first meeting of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Steering Committee, held after the unification, has taken place.
The virtual meeting, held on Sunday, was chaired jointly by the association's two presidents, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha and Dr. Badri K.C., and was jointly facilitated by the two general secretaries, Baburam (B.R.) Lama and Gauriraj Joshi.
The first meeting after the unification, which occurred in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, also formed the Election Committee for the NRNA's 12th General Convention.
Tej Bahadur Karki, a High Court Judge, has been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner. The Election Committee will comprise 7 members, including him.
Similarly, Bharat Aryal (USA), Surendra Shrestha and Chiranjeevi Dhakal (UK), Homnath Pandey (Australia), Narendra Bhat and T.B. Karki (Middle East) have been appointed as Election Commissioners by the meeting.
Furthermore, the meeting today decided to open membership for one month starting from December 9, targeting the upcoming General Convention.
The two General Secretaries, Lama and Joshi, have been tasked with preparing the working procedure for this and submitting it to the Steering Committee within two days.
It was also decided that the responsibility for verifying membership in countries with one, two, or more NNCs (National Coordination Councils) will be given to the respective NCC Presidents and General Secretaries.
The 11-member Steering Committee includes Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, Dr. Badri K.C., Binod Kunwar, R.K. Sharma, Binod Shrestha, B.R. Lama, Gauriraj Joshi, Ratan Jha, Gangadhar Gautam, Bhawani Oli, and Indra Ban.
