Siddhi Smriti Hospital Conducting Research on Child Health
Siddhi Smriti Women and Children’s Hospital, located in Bhimsensthan, Bhaktapur, has stated that it has been conducting various research studies related to women’s and children’s health.
During a discussion held on Tuesday with teachers from different schools in the district about the hospital’s research reports, the hospital mentioned that it has especially been carrying out community-based studies focusing on women and children.
Dr. Ramkrishna Chandyo, a pediatrician and the head of the Child Health Research Project under the hospital, informed that they have been conducting continuous research in collaboration with the Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
He said that they recently completed a study on diseases affecting children aged 6 to 11 months. He also mentioned that they conducted research on the health status of four hundred pregnant women.
Following the latest research, the hospital held discussions with teachers who teach young children in various schools across the district. Since these teachers work closely with young children, the hospital organized a one-day workshop and held discussions throughout the day.
The history behind the establishment of Siddhi Smriti Hospital is also quite unique. Social worker Shyamsundar Dhouhdel’s only child passed away in a road accident at a young age.
The death of Siddhi Sundar Dhouhdel led to the establishment of Siddhi Smriti Hospital. Had that tragedy not occurred, the hospital might not have come into existence.
In memory of his son, the hospital and an old-age home were founded, and today they serve thousands of children and elderly citizens.
