New Leadership for Shree Shikhar Community Forest User Group
Rapti, January 22 - New leadership has been selected for the Shree Shikhar Community Forest User Group located in Bhandara, Rapti-5, East Chitwan.
The 20th Annual General Meeting of the forest group held on Wednesday elected a new leadership under the chairmanship of Sandesh Ghalan.
Other office bearers of the committee will remain the same.
Accordingly, the current Vice-Chairperson of the forest group is Aitimaya Tamang, the Treasurer is Shanti Kunwar Thapa, and the Joint Secretary is Amrit Gautam. Similarly, the members include Bhagawati Tamang, Parbati Pandey, Binita BK, Samjhana Ghalan, Sangita BK, Rabindra Khadka, Rajkumar Chaudhary, Tej Prasad Ruwali, and Bhaikaji Thapa, while the position of Secretary remains vacant.
The outgoing Chairperson, Narendra Ruwali, resigned from his post with two years remaining in his five-year term due to a scheduled long-term foreign trip. Consequently, the group's Secretary, Ghalan, was unanimously elected as the Chairperson.
Newly elected Chairperson Ghalan is known as a rising youth leader in Rapti Municipality. He is equally active in social service through his involvement in various social organizations.
This forest, which began its service delivery in 1995 AD, is spread over an area of 297.72 hectares.
Newly elected Chairperson Ghalan informed that there are currently 920 household users in the forest group.
He stated that along with the change in leadership, detailed discussions were held regarding the group's future action plan, forest conservation, user welfare, and community development.
The program was chaired by outgoing Chairperson Narendra Ruwali, with Sitaram Bal, the Ward Chairperson of Rapti-5, attending as the chief guest.
The event also saw significant participation from representatives of local organizations and the group's users.
