Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ramnath Adhikari Resigns
Kathmandu — Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ramnath Adhikari, representing the Nepali Congress in the government, has resigned from his position and submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today.
Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has instructed ministers from his side to resign immediately. This move comes in protest against yesterday’s violent crackdown on the Gen Z movement, which resulted in the deaths of 19 youths.
Several hospitals in the capital are offering free medical services to injured protesters as a sign of solidarity. Earlier, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak had also resigned yesterday amid criticism and public pressure.
Not only the Gen Z activists but also other political parties and individuals are pressing Prime Minister Oli to resign. However, Information and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung has clearly stated that Prime Minister Oli will not step down.
