Pro Public Condemns Violence in Gen Z Protests
Kathmandu,September 9– The public interest organization Pro Public has expressed deep grief and outrage over the killing of 19 citizens and injuries to hundreds during peaceful Gen Z-led protests across Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal on September 8.
Protesters were demanding the removal of social media restrictions, protection of digital rights, freedom of expression, anti-corruption measures, and good governance.
Pro Public condemned the government’s “inhumane and undemocratic” use of force and urged immediate dialogue to address the protesters’ legitimate demands, prevent further violence, and ensure accountability.
The organization also appealed to all political parties and leaders to uphold democratic values, ensure transparency and good governance, and work for the welfare of all Nepali citizens.
