Prachanda Asserts Maoists Are the Pillar of Nepal’s Democratic Republic
Kathmandu — Former PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has claimed that the Maoist party is the founding force behind Nepal's federal democratic republic.
In a Facebook post, Prachanda stated that although the Maoist party currently holds the third position in Parliament in terms of legal and numerical strength, its historical contribution is highly significant.
He wrote, “No matter how many seats we have, the Maoists are the foundational force of Nepali politics when it comes to establishing the constitution of the federal democratic republic, and the rights and identities of women, Dalits, indigenous nationalities, workers, farmers, Madhesis, Muslims, and all marginalized communities.”
Prachanda emphasized that the Maoists represent the official side of the constitution and democratic republic, while labeling other political forces as opposition.
“No matter the numbers, the Maoists are the establishment; other forces are the opposition,” he added.
