Poudel Clan Federation Central Committee Honours Senior Citizens

Pokhara, August 13 — On the occasion of its third plenary meeting held in Pokhara, the Central Committee of the Poudel Clan Federation honoured five senior citizens today for their contributions in various fields of society.

At the ceremony organised in the conference hall of Hotel Dipsagar, located at New Road, Pokhara, the federation honoured 89-year-old Tulsi Poudel, 85-year-old Prof. Pabitra Mani Poudel, Jyotish Pandit Liladhar Poudel, 83-year-old Prof. Chaturbhuj Sharma Poudel, and Nilkantha Sharma Poudel.

They were jointly honoured by the Minister for Forests and Environment of Gandaki Province, Bhesh Bahadur Poudel, and the federation’s central president, Hari Ram Poudel.

During the event, Minister Poudel emphasised that rather than pride and arrogance towards one another, we should be people that society and the nation can take pride in. He stressed the need for parents to play a guiding role in building society and the nation so that future generations can feel proud of them.

Chief District Officer of Kaski, Rudradevi Sharma, said it was important for us to be creative while preserving our fading traditions. She highlighted the need to create an environment where our children can learn many things from us.

Central President Hari Ram Poudel stated that the federation has been moving forward with the motto “Poudel Surname, Our Shared Home,” aiming to foster fraternity among all members.

Speaking about the search for the ancestral origins of the Poudel clan, he shared information about the study and visits conducted at Paidikot in Bajhang, adding that the federation is moving ahead with plans to preserve the site and collect and organise historical documents of the Poudels.

He also informed that in the near future, the federation will launch campaigns on health awareness and elderly care management.

The programme was chaired by President Poudel and conducted by General Secretary Uddhav Prasad Poudel, with a welcome speech by Vice President (Gandaki) Sharda Poudel.

During the meeting, President Poudel, Senior Vice President Shaligram Poudel, General Secretary Uddhav Poudel, and Treasurer Yubraj Poudel presented their respective reports. The federation stated that, along with these reports, discussions were held on various current issues and important decisions were made.

Officials and members from across the country — from Taplejung in the east to Bajhang in the west — attended the meeting. Additionally, Kul Bahadur Poudel from India and Balram Poudel from Bhutan represented the diaspora.poudel-bamsha-1-1755077525.jpg
