People's Socialist Party Urges Government to End Crackdown and Lift Restrictions on Social Media
September 8 – The People's Socialist Party, Nepal (PSP-N) has expressed serious concern over the government crackdown on the peaceful protests led by the Gen Z generation across the capital, Kathmandu, and the rest of the country.
In a press release issued by Party General Secretary Ram Kumar Sharma, the party expressed grief over the deaths of dozens of protesters and injuries to hundreds of demonstrators and journalists. The party also extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured, urging the government to ensure full free medical treatment immediately.
The press release stated, “The general public has been outraged due to long-standing poverty, unemployment, misgovernance, and corruption. In this sensitive situation, the peaceful protests led by young students must not be suppressed.”
PSP-N demanded that the restrictions on social media be lifted immediately and urged the government to resolve the issues through dialogue and negotiation.
