Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Resigns

Kathmandu, September 9: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned from his post. His secretariat confirmed the resignation today.

He stepped down in response to the situation created by the ‘Gen Z’ protests that began on Monday across Kathmandu and other parts of the country. Oli, who is also the Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), had most recently assumed the position of Prime Minister on July 15, 2024 (Ashar 31, 2081 B.S.) with the support of the Nepali Congress and other parties.
