Shrestha and Congress Spokesperson in Kuala Lumpur for NRNA Malaysia Convention

Kathmandu – Former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, along with NRNA International Coordination Council President Mahesh Shrestha, has arrived in Malaysia to participate in the 9th General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Malaysia. The convention is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, with preparations in full swing.

The event will feature discussions on significant issues such as the rights and welfare of Non-Resident Nepalis, challenges faced by migrant workers, and their contributions to Nepal’s economic and social development. The convention will also elect a new executive committee. According to the organizers, it will further strengthen Nepal–Malaysia relations and help promote Nepali culture on an international platform.

On the occasion of the convention, a special Teej cultural program has also been organized. Renowned Nepali artists Shobha Tripathi and Buddha Lama, along with Nepali performers based in Malaysia, will showcase their talents. In addition, individuals who have made notable contributions to the Nepali diaspora community will be honored.

Dr. Mahat and Shrestha received a grand welcome at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The welcoming delegation included representatives from the Embassy of Nepal, Nepali Janasamparka Samiti Malaysia, NRNA ICC, Pravasi Nepali Manch Malaysia, and various other organizations.

The program will take place on August 31, 2025 (Sunday) at Hotel Grand Continental, Kuala Lumpur, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM local time.
