NRNA Celebrates 22 Years: Unity Efforts Ongoing, Focus on Citizenship & Investment

Kathmandu: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), established in 2003 under the motto 'Nepali for Nepalis,' marked its 22nd anniversary today, October 11, 2025.

The NRNA, which has expanded its network to over 90 countries, aims to unite the diaspora and channel their knowledge, skills, technology, and capital for Nepal's socio-economic development.

Dr. Badri K. C., President of the International Coordination Council, stated in his message that the NRNA is actively working to resolve internal differences and create an environment of comprehensive unity.

Unity Plan: Discussions with the dissenting faction are close to agreement, proposing the formation of a five-member Steering Committee.

This committee, formed with the consent of the 11th General Convention's executive body, would organize the 12th General Convention within the next three months, ensuring statutory supremacy.

Dialogue remains open to resolve the few remaining non-statutory disagreements.

NRN Citizenship: A major achievement is the government opening the legal path for non-resident Nepali citizenship, and the NRNA is pushing for its full implementation.

Investment & Development: The NRN Nepal Development Fund is in its final phase of operation, facilitated by the government's amendment of nine acts. NRN investment continues to grow in sectors like hydropower, banking, tourism, and health.

Future Focus: Future plans are centered on strengthening the organization and making it more inclusive and accountable, resolving issues in various National Coordination Councils (NCCs), and ensuring voting rights for Nepali citizens abroad.

The NRNA Day is being celebrated globally not just as a festival, but as a platform to discuss the Nepali diaspora's commitment and responsibility to the motherland.
