Begnas Irrigation System Branch No. 2 General Assembly and Convention Concluded

Pokhara. The Begnas Irrigation System Branch No. 2 concluded its annual general assembly and convention in a program held on Thursday.

The general assembly discussed the current state of the irrigation system and other related issues, along with selecting new leadership for the branch.

In the program, the Chief Guest and Vice President of the Begnas Irrigation System Main Consumers Committee, Raju Khatri, emphasized the need for the branch to expand its working area. 

He suggested advancing the irrigation system in a technology-friendly manner, focusing on waste management and proper utilization of water.

Bishnu Bahadur Basnet, the Branch President and Chairman of the program, stated that the irrigation system is the backbone of agricultural development. 

He urged farmers to actively manage risks such as floods, landslides, soil erosion, and soil cutting. 

He further noted that systematic irrigation is essential for the protection of agricultural crops and increasing production.

Shiva Bahadur Thapa, the organization's Treasurer, presented the financial report. 

Secretary Vishwaraj Lamichhane informed the attendees about the upcoming plans and programs, stressing the need to expand irrigation facilities and conduct programs like local water source conservation and farmer training.

In the program, former Branch President Ghanshyam Khanal, Advisor Ganesh Bahadur Khatri, Advisor Member of Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bharat Thapa, social workers Khemraj Adhikari, Kisan Pariyar, and Sharankumar Pradhan, stated that irrigation is the foundation of agricultural modernization. 

They suggested the new leadership move forward with multi-purpose plans and prioritize the welfare of the farmers.

The convention unanimously selected a new working committee under the chairmanship of Shiva Bahadur Thapa. 

Vishwaraj Lamichhane was appointed Vice President, Mohan Bahadur Thapa as Secretary, and Kritiraj Khanal as Treasurer.

Similarly, Raju Khatri, Balaram KC, Ram Bahadur Khatri, Sammar Bahadur Khatri, Padma Bastola, Lalmaya Thapa, and Jhalak Thapa were unanimously elected as members.

Ganesh Bahadur Khatri, the organization's advisor, served as the coordinator of the election committee.
