Bhotekoshi Flood Update: 1,451 Bodies Recovered

Kathmandu. As of 8:00 AM on Tuesday, 1,451 bodies have been recovered following the devastating flood in Rasuwa's Bhotekoshi.

Among these, 1,449 bodies were recovered across various districts: 236 in Rasuwa, 203 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading, 367 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East, and 222 in Nawalparasi West. Additionally, two people died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

To identify the recovered bodies, processes including DNA sample collection were conducted, and to date, 1,333 bodies have been managed (safely buried). For identification purposes, a total of 3,345 DNA samples have been collected—1,329 from the deceased and 2,016 from relatives.

Furthermore, details of 1,424 unidentified bodies have been uploaded to the Nepal Police website.

A total of 7,975 police personnel have been deployed in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution, and body management operations. Search efforts are currently ongoing for 4,718 missing individuals. Similarly, 1,342 people are currently being accommodated in holding centers across various districts.
